Main funding purpose: Leukaemia research
The story so far
Founded in 1974 by a group of passionate parents, LARCH aims to further research into, and treatment of, childhood leukaemia. Since its inception, LARCH has raised in excess of $3.5 million which has been used to fund research staff, research projects and the purchase of equipment for the Children’s Cancer Centre.
LARCH also established the Social Work Samaritan Fund to support patients and families with expenses incurred by frequent and lengthy hospital admissions.
The Auxiliary has been supported by many organisations in its fundraising activities including the Coburg Rotary (which contributed to the Ronald McDonald House), the Melbourne Financial Markets Charity Ball, Werribee Rotary and the Variety Club of Victoria. Yering Station Winery, through its gallery and annual sculpture exhibition, is also a major supporter.
